I modified a bit of the UECM3563 individual assignment this trimester. Instead of just asking the students to analyze and describe data, I also wanted to expose them to how statistics can be used in the real world (not only just in modeling insurance-related quantities!). And also I wanted them to pick up on their English and what is one good way to learn English? Read! :) The students were required to read an article of their choice from the Significance periodical and give me a short insight from what they read. As I was glancing through the assignments, I was delighted to see students putting on their thinking cap and commenting on the articles. Some even put in the effort to check the dictionary on unfamiliar vocabulary! Way to go! So proud of them! On another note, this stack of assignments is gonna last me a solid 3-4 weeks of marking... As done previously, I will be sitting down with each student to go through his/her assignment. 80 students - I can do it!!! #uecm3563jan2015 #utardmas
