I must impress upon you heavily to please watch 12 Years a Slave. I have been haunted by this film the past few days since watching it. Especially the crushing performance by Lupita Nyongo. I had trouble sleeping that night (even more so than usual). I couldnt seem to shake the reality of Patseys existence from my thoughts. Perhaps I never shall. Which is not a bad thing. Her life, as with Solomon Northup and millions of others, was so powerful and important that they are being discussed and celebrated close to two hundred years later. I thank her and the many others who suffered so dearly so that I may not suffer as such.
