I need a hug. Go out to do a hive check, and the fresh comb is going dark and the bees are listless, so I was concerned. Halfway in I spy a couple of hive beetles and squish them, and then leave the hive to go in and check the books for info on hive beetles. Turns out I didnt remember much about them because the books dont say much about them- this problem exists, its awful, theres really nothing you can do, but dont worry because they only live in the southeast. Lucky me. Poor bee babies. So I go back out there and now Im upset, and theyre mad at me for leaving the hive open, and so I didnt even get to do a thorough hive check and just.... gah. Dont know what to do :( Maybe theyll leave and rebuild elsewhere, since their beautiful comb is getting chewed up.... maybe I could build them a new hive, I dont know....
