I need car advice. I maintain my car well. Last winter my 2006 Chevy Aveo had no/poor heat. I spent $900 trying to get it fixed at a garage I had never been to but was recommended to me by several people as I couldnt make it to mine out of Wpg. I was told it would cost another $1000 to get it running after that and instead went all winter with almost no heat. My regular mechanic got me some heat for $75 but to get enough I must replace the thermostat (did that last year) and the leaking fuel pump. He said the new thermostat might be on warranty but even then, without the fuel pump it wont be enough to keep me warm. I trust my regular mechanic completely. In total Im looking at another aprx $900. I spent $300 today getting it winterized, winter tires back on and new air filter and clean. Unfortunately the heats not my only problem. My ABS brakes are acting up. In spring we disconnect the ABS part and I have been driving without it but for winter need them. We reconnected them today but they are already acting up again which means more work required...who knows how much...several hundred or more...and my gear shift is slipping when I put it in park and I have to hold it to get my car turned off and my key out. Ok, now what do I do??? I cant afford $2000. 00 in repairs and wonder, is it worth it, but neither can I afford a new car... I dont want to get into discussions about rip off mechanics as I dont believe that nor does it help me. I would appreciate some good, educated advice on cars tho...Thanks in advance.
