I need help/advice, please. My son is 9. After 9 years of staying home, I started back to work Monday. He has always had anxiety and is on medication for it and has done well on it. On Tuesday, he got sick a few times. I figured it was because I was gone and he missed me. I checked his temp later on in the evening and it was 102. He vomited in the middle of the night. He woke up Wednesday and was still vomiting so my husband took him to his pediatrician. They said stomach bug. Wednesday he started having a green slime in his stools. He may have thrown up once or twice on Wednesday. Temp was around 100 and went down several times. Thursday he was throwing up again. There were times (mainly in morning) that it was awful and other times he looked fine and was eating and keeping things down. Friday he woke up throwing up. No fever. Took him back to dr. Said possibly crypto and took a stool sample and put him on something to help that bacteria. Vomit Friday night. This morning - woke up vomiting. I took him to the er. They said possible stomach bug and gave zofran. He had something to drink and three up. Got an IV. Then he was hungry and was eating saltines and sipping on Gatorade just fine. Then this evening, he vomited all the drink he had. I know this isnt a medical board. Im not asking for a diagnosis but I do not believe this is a stomach bug or crypto. We have a pool. We havent been in other pools. He has no fever. I called the on call dr and she said theres not much we can do. Wait it out and take to er for fluids if needed. So ... 6 days of vomiting is normal for a stomach bug?I dont believe it is. Im tired of watching him vomit and the poor kid is tired of vomiting. What other route do I take? Allow my kid to keep vomiting while they assume its a stomach bug?? I just moved here but my sons old ped would be doing everything possible. No one had done blood work or anything. Blood work was done to check his hydration but that was it. Im really frustrated and not sure what step I should take on a weekend. Zofran is not working. My husband, daughter and I have not gotten sick and this started a week ago. Whatever it is, it isnt contagious.
