I need some advice please... Ive been asked to repair this old quilt. Its not an antique, but it was made by the ladys grandmother, so its valuable to her. There are 8 squares that need replacing. This is a yarn tied quilt, so Im wondering if I should take out all the yarn ties and separate the layers so I can replace the squares sew the new squares on from the back. Then I could relayer the quilt back together and retie it with new yarn? Or if I have to do it from the top of the quilt, how would I do it? Does my question make sense? I want to do this the right way. Then I was also wondering what should I charge? Ive repaired a couple of quilts before, but they were just the top edges that were fraying so they were easy fixes. And advice would be greatly appreciated! Oh, and once fixed, can this quilt be washed in a jumbo sized front loading machine, on gentle cycle? Shes wondering how to get it cleaned when Im done repairing it.
