I need some help for my dad. Since he had throat cancer, his passage way has scar tissue and therefore he chokes when he tries to eat. Food items with textures are difficult. He basically only eats cookies ... because they dissolve in his mouth with milk. He is drinking boost, Gatorade and cookies ... and that is all. When he drinks ... it is one mouthful at a time and he has to concentrate on swallowing. Would it be better for him to use a straw? I was also thinking I had hear that touching his chin to his chest would be better for swallowing ... any other ideas? Help ... chopping up stuff does not work ... gets caught in is throat.
