I need to rant. Most of you know I cycle year round, so even this latest bout of snow was only a minor inconvenience for my ride. This morning, I cycled through Stanley Park and, as expected, there were fallen branches and bent trees everywhere, including on the pathways. I also saw 6+ cycle tracks going through the park - but it appears no one stopped to move any of the branches out of the way for those that followed. So I did. I spent 20 minutes clearing I dont know how many branches off of the pathway all the way through the park. During that time three other cyclsts went by - a couple said thank you and one (barely) helped me with one branch, but none of them helped with any of the remaining branches. What the F***? By the end, my mitts were soaked, my feet were soaked through my boots and booties, and I was pissed off. So much for people being helpful in this city. 10 cyclists (and at least 2 pedestrians) through the park this AM and only one (me) decided to be a good neighbour and make the pathway better for others. To all those going through the park after 7:30 AM - you are welcome
