I need to say something, and I hope this does not offend people that I care about. Please feel free to express your viewpoints on this matter. I have recently come across a situation where a person has refused home visits before and after taking in animals. Now it is my opinion that whether you are on the receiving or distributing end of rescue that it is your responsibility to assure the safety and health of the animals you are either taking in or passing to another. If either person is incapable of being under this type of scrutiny perhaps they should consider their position in rescue. That is like saying I am a dog fighter but I do not have to prove to you that I am not. How many times do we see this in rescue and guard against such atrocities? God forbid an animal ended up in the wrong hands. Now I am not saying that every person or group is not reputable or doesnt devote all they have towards rescue nor that their intentions are not honorable. But if you can not stand behind what you represent then maybe you should not be in the industry. We all have a responsibility to make sure that the animals we take in or send off are coming/going to a place that has their best interest in place. The lack of validation only leaves doubt and is a risk to the animals we are fighting for. Again, please give me your opinion on this matter. I certainly will not be offended and am absolutely not offended or abstract to someone checking out the environment I have for helping with rescued animals. I would be more offended if I was not checked out!
