I need your help. Mojave Desert Animal Rescue Inc. has been selected as one of 50 finalist in the #DOGFORDOG Feed a Shelter contest. If they win, they could get a year’s supply of pet food for the pets of homeless residents. The voting is going to be fierce; they are up against some stiff competition...some with their own TV shows. Let me tell you a little about MDAR. MDAR is the first permanent pet food bank in the high desert of California. Homeless citizens in our community need help to meet basic needs for their pets (food, vaccines, emergency vet care, etc.). A lot of these people live a nomadic life in the desert rather than move into a facility that will give them a bed and food because they know to accept these things means they have to give up their pet. These are the same people who will often go hungry themselves rather than let a cherished pet starve.
