I never noticed before that all of the Pauline passages where there author seems to preach gender and social equality and an overturning of the Roman household hierarchy are found in letters that are indisputably by Paul (Galatians, 1 Corinthians, Romans, Philemon). Likewise, all of the passages that uphold the social hierarchy are in the letters that most scholars believe were written long after Pauls death and falsely attributed to him (1 Timothy & Titus). And the more ambiguous passages that could go either way depending on ones interpretation, are found in the letters that scholars arent sure were written by Paul but were at least probably written by someone close to him (Colossians & Ephesians). Interesting correlation, no?
