I never thought I would miss Christmas until this moment now that I am a million miles away from my family surrounded by strangers in a hotel. To me Christmas was all about unnecessary work. Putting the tree up, hanging lights putting decorations, buying presents...etc all geared for that second your child awakens to find their dream toy had arrived. To make it easy on me, Nina Cullen-Hamzeh would put music on, gives me a glass of wine then starts hanging the lights and tree ornaments. Shortly after, she goes upstairs and extracts the Christmas bags from the boxes and wrapping paper, as she knew I had no patience to sitting down and wrapping presents. She hands my bags and tissue papers and I would be all done in ten minutes while she stays hidden wrapping present ever so meticulously making each look beautiful and irresistible well beyond 1:00 AM. She carries the presents down stairs and places them around the tree making it look like and explosion of never ending trail of presents for the boys. They are older now and we no longer have to hide presents or worry about guessing what they may want for Christmas but today I miss their beautiful voices running down the stairs and their gasp as they set eyes on what Nina (Santa) brought them. Merry Christmas to all and I hope that you never have to miss Xmas...
