I no doubt deserved my enemies, but I dont believe I deserved my friends. ~Walt Whitman Thank you all so much for yesterdays birthday wishes. Im truly blessed by each and every one of you. As a capstone for the occasion, I need to give a special hug to the one who gave me life: my mother. I started a tradition a few years ago where I send her a dozen roses to be delivered at the time of my birth each birthday as a reminder to why our birthdays hold such great significance. So, she buys me a card that makes me cry - I give her flowers and make her cry. Its awesome. I was the first of her four children who came after 23 hours of labor, the last ten being very difficult. At over nine pounds and the cord wrapped around my neck when I finally arrived, she would admit that, from my first breath, I could never do anything the easy way. But she and Dad gave me a wide breadth to be me as I grew in to a man - and joke that my first word uttered was, Why?. Its been a great journey - one I owe to a tremendous woman. In faith and love, she is a rock. Love ya, Mom.
