I normally do not comment online. However I think this incident is really too ludicrous not to mention. I happened to be at Spring Shopping Mall & I thought I would pop into the hair saloon for a quick hair wash. This is my first visit to this hair saloon. Upon entering Im informed it would cost me RM36 for a wash &dry. For such a price (normally around RM20) I thought i would be getting a very good service. However, from the minute a rather sad looking red eyed young man led me to my seat, I felt the hostility. No one smiled or even attempted to make me feel welcome. The young man mumbled something about shampoo to me and before I could even answer, he walked off on a impatient huff, disappearing behind the counters and coming back with a blue bottle (I had no idea what it was). He immediately proceeded to scratch the top of my head into a tangled ball and before I could react he used his claws on my poor scalp! I yelped in pain, he wasnt bothered (probably thinking i was a bother!) I requested no nails please, so he massaged my neck, I said no massage, just wash my hair, he looked very unhappy, I asked are you unhappy washing my hair?, he replied Im not well today, I said oh, then can someone else help?, he shouted across she wants to change. All eyes on me. Oh, in between all that he got water down my dress, washed my forehead but not the hair still hanging down my face, told me could rinse already when my scalp was still itching all over. I looked down and read the news hoping this would all be over soon, when ouch another scratch from a sharp claw, its a girl now whos taken over washing my hair. (I was completely unaware of the switch! No one bothered to let me know out of courtesy at least...) She washed quick without any welcoming smile or look, just wash then say rinse as she tapped on my shoulder to indicate i should make a move to the rinse area whilst i was talking on the speakerphone (volume low enough for me to hear only). She rinsed my hair, washed my whole face in the process and the front of my dress! I wasnt told that for that price they take off your makeup for free! Then she took a towel and wiped my eyebrows off as she wiped upwards from my eyes (Im sure my eye shadow was wiped off too. Luckily I didnt use any mascara today!). I couldnt take it anymore so I asked her if this is the way that they wash hair here, by also washing off make up? I then asked her why they are so unhappy to wash my hair. Is it because Im not a regular? Is it because I said something or done something? She simply replied next time I wont anymore (in Chinese). I dont really know what it means but i left it at that. I tried to find the boss but they said the lady boss has gone home. I told them that I didnt pay money to come and fight but rather to relax & wash my hair. As i write this, I come to the conclusion that its the attitude that we are subjected to daily that shapes & determines our outlook on life in general. Im embarrassed to say that Malaysia is no longer a country that breeds polite, well mannered generations. No far from it, Malaysia has bred a new generation that is self seeking (I say that because selfish is too strong a word to use), manners are simply a forgotten gesture amongst many other negatives that i can, but wont, name. Our education has much to answer for. Where do we start?
