I normally dont do this kinda whatevers, but this one involves books, and books are where i like to hang out. The best thing you can do besides read a book is share one, so Im gonna share a few titles since Martin Cossio called me out. In no particular order (fiction, exclusively). 1. Journey to the End of the Night- Louis Ferdinad Celine 2. Ask the Dust- John Fante 3. 100 Years of Solitude- Gabriel Garcia Marquez 4. On the Road- Jack Kerouac 5. Unbearable Lightness of Being- Milan Kundera 6. Nine Stories- J.D. Salinger 7. The Broom of the System- David Foster Wallace 8. Hunger- Knut Hamsun 9. Tales of Ordinary Madness- Charles Bukowski 10. Winner Takes Nothing- Ernest Hemingway and so many more (i had to cut a few titles to make this an even ten with this list focusing mostly on fiction that has influenced my aesthetic development as a writer). Id have to make poetry, theater, philosophy and radical/political theory separate lists. Now that im done stroking my ego Id like to nominate Joe Riley and Andrea Lambert to participate in the booket challenge. If some of these titles are foreign to you, find and read any one of these. Or dont.
