I normally dont use rounding hammers, except for forming cup - TopicsExpress

I normally dont use rounding hammers, except for forming cup shapes in swedges, and only occasionally draw out on my horn. I can do it faster by using my regular square face cross peen, using a corner of the face as a fuller. I dont have to change my stance (stepping towards the horn,) the anvil is more stable with me pounding hard and fast on the center of the face opposed to the horn. While this example is not as clean as I normally do, it is an example. Watch my hammer hand closely. You will see at the end of the video how loose my grip is, allowing the hammer to rebound. Also notice that I work close to the far edge when working the end of the bar to get a sharper point and not worry about hitting the anvil with my hammer. Another reason why I can get very sharp points at the anvil.
