I note with some concern that Councillors Dyke & Dyke have said in the Observer that they want to use the compensation / fine money from the bridge debacle to fund a committee to discuss and formulate the future of Evesham. I think that is wrong on so many levels, the money will be wasted on committees and sub committees and in the end we will still end up with a town thats in the shit!; how many more goes are they going to have at it? This money is a one off that wont happen again. I believe that as there is going to be £200-300,000 kicking about they should do something really useful with it; sort out the roof on the Evesham Public Hall; get it open so it can be used by the community again instead of standing their empty and rotting away. There are so many ways it could be used and it could be self funding if its staffed and managed by volunteers maybe with the aid of a promotion manager whose paid on results. I am sure Lizzie Taylor Smith would love to get her Swing Dancers and some bands up there; its the perfect venue with a good bar and excellent kitchen; I should know I helped run it. Keeping it closed is a disgusting waste of a resource that was probably funded by public subscription in the first place and it should be open and used. Perhaps the Observer should take up the cause or maybe the Evesham Journal if there not too busy photographing Pershore! Mx
