I notice that lots of people are mentioning spinning worsted, perhaps inspired by the current Ply issue! Heres a tip I discovered for a smooth worsted yarn, and confirmed with my also current study of spinning fine merino laceweight, if you have some combs and are preparing your fibre with them to spin worsted, you can spin directly from the comb to get a wonderfully smooth yarn. this way youre spinning from the tip (recommended by Margeret Stove) and your fibre is perfectly combed with no chance of being messed up during removal. In my colour blending video I demo spinning from the comb, I promise its safe ;) youtu.be/MejwJvo51J8?t=2m6s If you have no combs, you can still create a worsted yarn if you carefully wash your locks to keep intact and spin directly from the fanned out tip, no need for expensive equipment, those locks are already organised with the fiber running parallel! This is especially great for laceweight too.
