I notice with a lot of people, when the word shirk is mentioned, they assume it just means worshipping idols and statues made of wood or stone, or worshipping the planets, the sun/moon, or graves etc. YES, it is shirk to make dua and prostrate to these things. However, one aspect of shirk many overlook is the shirk of haakimiyaah, from the masaail ul jahilliyah is that the mushrikeen used to take disputes to taghut or to make laws which they invented. So you tell me, why is it you assume shirk is only what the grave worshipper does, but you seem to think democracy and judging with man-made laws is ok? Didnt Allah condemn shirk as the worst zulm? (Surah Luqman)? Shirk in Arabic means to join or associate someone or something, in short meaning an action is devoted to someone else. And yet if you try pointing this out to people they brand you crazy or a takfeeri etc, it reminds me of Waraqah bin Nawfal who said to the Prophet sall Allahu alayhi wasallam when he was young that people who came with what he had before ( tawhid and kufr bit taghut) were met with hostility. Just look at the anger and disgust of these people when you mention Allah is the legislator and we only seek judgement from Allah and His Rasul ( Sall Allahu alayhi wasalam) it shows contempt and hatred for shariah, if one hates seeking judgement from kitabullah wa sunnah how can he be a muslim, isnt this a contradiction? ~ Abu Muhammad
