I obtained the go ahead to write the grant for WISD this morning. I was instructed to write in a commission fee or a paid position for my self to oversee the pilot program. Take first, second and third grade kids to pay their parents in actively learning while helping targeted population considered at risk of falling behind to do there home work. Logistics, funding and which school to address is at issue, but the administration is willing to take to the board my research, grant proposal. I do not have the job quite yet; the funding must be secured first. Active learning, similar to the concept of a family eating at the table together, well why not allow a family to learn together. Studies have identified that families, rich and poor, have a greater success at encouraging their children to progress academically if they exhibit learning patterns together; hence, the notion of paying parents who are already enrolled in an education environment and learning a trade, attending ESL, reading class, college or vocational school to do their home work together in a family environment. I am to record the results of a three year study and submit my findings for publication. Questions or suggestions are welcomed.
