I offered to make cole slaw, Shepherds Pie and Cornbread for Pastor Appreciation Day tomorrow. I survived the cole slaw AND the Shepherds Pie... I started making the cornbread and thats when it ALL started!!! I had my BIG BLUE bowl that I love to mix everything in and after I put in all the ingredients for the cornbread, I wondered Wheres my spoon? I know I got a spoon and placed it on the table. Where is it? I searched and couldnt find it. Got another one and when I went to beating the cornbread mixture... CLUNK!! I hit something!! Yeppers!! MY SPOON!! I FOUND IT!! In the bottom of the bowl!! I removed it. Continued on with what I was doing. Now, I like my iron skillet to be HOT before I pour my cornbread mix into it. I love to hear the sizzle and watch it start cooking before its in the oven. I put the skillet in the oven and waited... and waited... AND waited!! The skillet NEVER got hot!! Of course NOT!! SOMEBODY forgot to turn the oven on!! IMAGINE THAT!! So by now, from all the laughter, I have to potty!! I go take of natural business and then return to the kitchen. I turn the oven on, let the skillet with the grease get hot. I pour the cornbread mixture into the skillet and as Im putting the skillet in the oven, some of the HOT GREASE runs out of the skillet all over the bottom of the oven. I quickly turned the oven off not wanting to have a grease fire. I removed the rack. Cleaned the oven. Cleaned the rack. Gave it time to dry and then placed the cornbread back in the oven to cook. And then as Im taking the cornbread out of the oven, I burned my MIDDLE finger on my left hand on the top oven rack!! I cant even show anybody my burn boo boo because it will look like Im giving them the finger!! I NEVER had THIS much trouble cooking when I was just leaning HOW to cook!! ALL of this happened before 12:30 today!! Momma has laughed!! Aunt Nancy has laughed til she almost lost her balance while standing up!! I even called my special buddy over yonder in Sevierville and gave him a good laugh today, too!! And even Ramona Parker got tickled at me!!! Soooooo you may as well go ahead and laugh, too!! Looking forward to the NEXT adventure!!
