I officially start my internship tomorrow! I will be a field research technician for Stantec Consulting over the summer and fall! The assignment will have me engaging in independent field work that includes primarily monitoring bird and bat mortality rates in areas surrounding wind turbines, as well as raptor counts, predation studies, and more. I will be stationed in Rumford, Maine for the fieldwork portion of the study, living out of an inn for a few nights a week, where I will be surrounded by beautiful forests, mountains, and lakes that I cant wait to explore. I will earn college credit through both field experience and independent study, the job is paid, and includes a scholarship! Most importantly though, I am going to be gaining valuable experience and skills in a professional setting as an environmental scientist! This will unquestionably help to further my career. Words cannot express my excitement. I have been so fortunate to have a chance to prove myself in higher education, and now to be given this amazing opportunity... I am literally living out my dreams. Not everyone can say that. I am very grateful to everyone who has supported me, encouraged me, invested in me and believed in me. Tomorrow I reach a new level of success. I cant wait to begin and for all my days to come!
