I often end up chatting with customers, and sometimes mention that Hobnobbers isnt my only job, but that I also teach high schooling the building you can see from the deck. A fair number (especially of the seasonal crowd) express,in an incredibly patronizing way, their concern for how students might view me if I were to ever serve them or their families. Arent you concerned they would lose respect for you? Is the common thread. No. Unequivocally, NO. No one is too good for any job. Some of the smartest people I have ever met were in the service industry. No. Most teachers I know have secondary sources of income. No, a lot of people have to work a minimum of 2 jobs. Why would demonstrating a good work ethic ever be seen as a negative?
