I often play old crappy movies off of youtube while I draw. Just finished watching Boxing Helena Directed by David Lynchs daughter, Jennifer Chambers Lynch, when she was 24 back in the early 90s. It indeed turned out pretty crappy, but only because it seemed to take itself so seriously. It felt like a Tales From The Crypt episode that went on waaaaay too long, without any of the fun. Absolutely none of the characters are likeable. They range from down and out pathetic to outright asshole. And while Sherilyn Fenn ( Helena ) was as good as she could be with the material given, the majority of the acting was awful. The music choices were even worse. Maybe with better music and more fun, Tales From The Crypt fans would have a movie to love here. But still, it was pretty damn disturbing, and theres some ( obvious ) social commentary to be gleaned, and I like Sherilyn Fenn, so its kind of worth watching for that. Plus Red Foreman is in it.
