I often think that what we do at The Whole 9 and The Peace Project - TopicsExpress

I often think that what we do at The Whole 9 and The Peace Project is a cross between a miracle and a circus act...and Affair of the Arts was a beautiful example of this unique hybrid.. The miracle is all of the hands that touched it and breathed life into it...the circus act is the fact that all of them were volunteers, participating artists and anyone that made the mistake of standing still for too long. Thanks to my daughters godmothers husband, we got one of The Peace Projects houses built and thanks to Laurence Cohen, we got the word out about this house. Heidi Huber-Kalin did a kick-ass job on bands...and speaking of bands, how about a Hell Yeah for the musicians: DJ Brutha Gimel, Marston Smith, Grace Gravity, OMBB, and Kellys Lot, DJ Astro (aka Romulo Rivera), Kenny Klimak, Scarlett Rabe and Buffalo Robe. Of course, the artists were the stars of the show, so thanks to all of you that said yes including: Aly Timbuctustate Kourouma, Abram Santa Cruz, Bart Everett, Brad Reyes, Cola Smith, Objects OfCuriosity, Dominique Vialar, Fortune Sitole, Jeannine Emmett, Jeffrey Thomas Greathouse, Kenneth Ober, Outi Harma, Pamela Harnois, Lorelei Greene, Rachel Shultz, Rebecca Molayem, Tanya Mikaela, Tim Sabatino, Daniela Came, Wesla Weller and Wolf Gomez. This festival is powered by dozens of people like Ray Rodriguez who handled the sound (and helped dismantle the house!) and everyone else who gave so generously of their time and energy including first and foremost Charles Hopkins, Christian White, Michele Cardella, Arianna Basco, David Richard Thompson, Jill Williams, Diane Ekker, Ckay Walker, Franz Criego, Catherine OConnor, Aazam Irilian M and Tracy McLaughlin. All of you (and anyone I may have left out due to a faulty memory) ROCK! Of course there are others like Corey Mason who loaned the gorgeous flags that flew over the festival, Robert Gonzalez who lent his graphic design talents (and his truck), Sherry Rand who handled all of the festival materials, artists like Brad Reyes, Dan Levin and Wayde Came who leaned in and loaned a hand to The Whole 9 and to other artists. And let us not forget The Culver Hotel and Seth Horowitz, plus dozens of participating restaurants and businesses in Culver City like the Wellness Spa who donated prizes for the raffle -- all of which helped raise money to build houses. Not only could we not have done it without you, we wouldnt have wanted to. Thank you...you all make our work worth doing.
