I once again have to break my rule of “no politics on - TopicsExpress

I once again have to break my rule of “no politics on Facebook.” That is because ONE of the two distinguished gentlemen representing the State of Florida in the U.S. Senate is ON this list. What really frosts my a** is, I have VOTED for Senator Nelson in the past. I did so because I felt he was right for the job given his resume as a Representative in the Florida Legislature, being a State Treasurer, Insurance Commissioner and Fire Marshal, then as a Representative to the U. S. Congress. He also traveled in space in the 1980’s as an astronaut aboard the NASA Shuttle, Columbia. To me, that gave him character and creditability. When I voted for him back in 2000 I thought he would be one who voted with common sense and look out for his constituents in Florida. But since he has become a Senator I’ve been disappointed with because of his continuously voting a party line. To be a military retiree one has to commit their lives (LITERALLY) for a period of at least twenty years. The only exception to that is if they are retired early for MEDICAL reasons. Guess what would cause a medical reason. I’ll be contacting the gentleman and respectfully asking why he voted to cut their pensions. I won’t be holding my breath for a reply because I don’t look very good with a blue face. BTW, if you’re reading this you might want to go to your favorite search engine and look up the pension plan for a member of the U.S. Senate. It is starkly different from the retirement requirements of a member of the armed forces. (Okay, Im off my soap box now after venting).
