I participated in this day of action. And got suspended (along with a few of my co-workers) by my employer for 2 weeks without pay for absenting myself from work without consent of my out-of-scope supervisor. That action by my employer resulted in my union brothers and sisters passing the hat at a series of membership meetings and all of the suspended workers were paid our full wages while we were off the job. We were some of the only workers in Canada that faced discipline from our employers for participating in this historic day of action across Canada. It was a day that changed my life, and assisted in making me the person I am today. Makes me think of the old union song: You cant scare me Im stickin to the union.
