“I pay tribute to all the women who have been cabinet ministers - TopicsExpress

“I pay tribute to all the women who have been cabinet ministers before me. The challenge I have set for myself is to do the best I can for those who will follow me. I feel that responsibility every day. I don’t think there is such a divide [between genders], in cabinet we deal with a whole range of issues and I have an opinion on every single one, likewise the males, of course they have opinions. But we do need to be more representative generally, we need diversity in our Parliament. Dear Press, I hope that the line being run about more representative becomes less about men/women and more about the fact that our demographic by education/age/wealth is almost identical across the board (removing the nutjobs that dont hold any academic achievements). How many doctors are there (a few actually)? Surgeons? Nurses? Teachers? Engineers? Scientists? Fitters? And how many Lawyers? Arts History students? At some point there has to be a greater meaning for the word representative. Greater than male v female.
