I picked up an awful lot of cars last week. That is what I do, I am an automobile relocater. But these cars were not being relocated. They were being confiscated We just stick them in the storage lot before they get auctioned off.. When a company turns, the fleet cars turn with it, right? Fleet cars are what you know as company cars. We have some serious accounts, big ass names like Apple and Kellogs. I prolly should not mention those. And CITGO, there, I said it. Seems fair enough to me. Except I have to stand there while a young woman cries because she now has no car and lives in a big city that demands one. And do you know how much it costs to rent a car in Los Angeles? I do, I have to do rentals all of the time. It is expensive, and a hassle. And all I can do is paperwork, shrug, and wish her all the best. I have to stand there and hear the story of a sixty-five-year-old man who wakes up on a Tuesday with nothing left. The guy gives the better part of his life to his work, and gets absolutely nothing in the end. Twenty, thirty years of his life and he gets no gold watch, no pension, no goodbye party with cake, not even a pat on the back. He gets a note in the cubbyhole and an exiting kick in the ass. The look on his face is unforgettable. I take his Audi away. This happens, literally. Grown men, with kids in college and bills up to the eyeballs, working their asses of to make ends meet, and they wake up one day with NOTHING. No company, no cubicle, no telephone, no secretary. A takeover, a buyout, a moving of shares, and thousands of people are left without a clue, and why are they wearing a stupid tie? All they get is a jerk like me taking their company car away. I hate when that happens. The corporation knows not you. There are bean counters in like Egan Minnesota and they know not you. They only see numbers, and you are one of those things. My People! Please! Be not a number . . .
