I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and the republic for which it stands, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. That is how my generation recited the pledge every day. from kindergarten through grade 6. Simple and from the heart. The phrase, one nation under God, was added later, to which I had no objection, but many did. Is it even recited in public schools now? America is no longer a Republic, it is now a Democracy, heading toward Socialism: a country whose citizens think the government owes them everything. Maybe if we go back to reciting the Pledge of Allegiance from your generation, Chris, from Kindergarten through Senior year in High School, even college, the Flag of our country, our country and her people would be respected again.
