I posted my YES vote this morning and not without reflecting this long journey it took to get here! I remember the 3 day week when I was young and my father and mother struggled for money. My father was self employed, never once claimed a penny from the dole, my mother collected sticks from the nearby wood to burn, keeping us warm in those dark winter nights as we had no other source of heating. I remember the time taxes were so high we wondered whether it was worth while going to work. High inflation, mines being closed, the dismantling of our ship building industries, the smelter in Invergordon closing down the list goes on. However like the true Scots we are we have weathered these things and many more and yet London was relatively unscathed, continuing to prosper to the expense of everywhere else. We have been on the receiving end for far too long. Now is our time and we must grasp the nettle and end this disproportionate alliance of politics. I took ownership of my democratic right and voted with both heart and head placing my X firmly and assuredly in the YES box, knowing that I am doing the right thing for my family and their future!
