I predicted on Wednesday that the outcome of Tuesdays election would be calls from the right for a land war in the Middle East to confront the threat of terrorism/ ISIL/ Iran/ the Boogeyman. It only took until Friday for the White House to preempt that argument by doubling the number of boots on the ground training Iraqi brigades and Kurdish Peshmerga fighters. The 1,500 additional troops announced yesterday join 1,400 already in country — and trust me, Im not surprised they dumped this into the weekend wasteland of news reporting.
