I promise I am not going to start spamming you all with posts - TopicsExpress

I promise I am not going to start spamming you all with posts about rescuing animals... although I AM putting you all on notice that I hope to start working with rescue and fostering rescue animals in the next few months (once I move to a bigger property in March), so.. you know, you are probs going to get photos of furry faces a fair bit.. :) In the meantime, though: right now there is a strong movement towards insisting that the Lost Dogs Home, who hold many domestic animals services contracts (read POUNDS) around Melbourne are held accountable for their unacceptable, often inhumane, high-kill management - many instances of which former and current employees and volunteers of LDH are coming forward and speaking to. I am not of the opinion that the LDH necessarily needs to be completely removed from their position, but they MUST be held accountable. Our pet registration fees and rates to local council go towards paying for their operation, and contractually, local council MUST ensure that the services provided meet the expectations of the community. The time to act is NOW while the movement is strong - here are three easy petitions you can sign without even putting yourself out: 1. a petition to ammend the law that vets are not allowed to scan pet microchips and return the pet to the registered owner. change.org/p/victorian-state-government-depi-amend-the-law-to-allow-vets-to-scan-pets-for-microchips-and-release-animal-to-the-owner-not-send-directly-to-pounds?recruiter=180846131&utm_campaign=signature_receipt&utm_medium=email&utm_source=share_petition 2. a petition asking the Victorian Premier to launch an enquiry into LDH and their practices https://change.org/p/daniel-andrews-premier-victoria-have-an-enquiry-into-the-lost-dogs-home-and-it-s-administration-and-ask-why-so-many-dogs-are-being-killed-when-owners-are-searching-for-them-and-or-rescue-groups-are-pleading-to-be-able-to-rehome-them-the-ldh-is-a-disg?tk=PLCIpyo0X4FlzLBUNamOMkp3VfLwxjXmd2oma_qCd0Y&utm_source=petition_update&utm_medium=email 3. a peition to the CEO of LDH to actively start working wherever possible with rescue organisations https://change.org/p/graeme-smith-ceo-stop-killing-innocent-animals-and-start-working-with-rescue-groups?tk=iv5bzmGZtcs5B11xiWP6Q-NNluoW-llZo6Apw4Ey-u4&utm_source=petition_update&utm_medium=email
