I pulled out of Knuckleheads Saloon after selling out (thank you Clay and Cynthia!), and listening to a great show by Robert Cray and an even better show by John Hiatt, who was clearly having fun, and did about a 45 minute encore. And I was mentally comparing the show I just heard to this music. The mind, left in a vacuum, thinks strange things. I love chamber music and string quartets and such. My brain thinks that the reason I prefer the smaller ensembles to a full symphony orchestra is because I grew up on modern jazz and rock and roll. Im more used to small sound. Maybe I should go to bed before my oddball brain starts thinking again.
