I pulled up to the bank a while back and my friend got out to use - TopicsExpress

I pulled up to the bank a while back and my friend got out to use the ATM. Upon returning, she remarked that she had only felt afraid to use the ATM twice in Olympia. Whaa?!!! She went on to say that as a woman she felt afraid out in public all the time and many of her friends felt the same way. I went home and cried, I never knew that this was a reality for women, as a man, Ive always watched my back but never felt afraid in public, even when I was travelling through hard core ghettos. The reality that I live in a culture where women feel threatened by their very public existence was eye opening for sure. I got to thinking about what else our culture does to woman, we screw up their body images severely, their self esteem is always under attack from our Media. Our media, controlled by six corps, trains our young men to objectify women to an extent never before seen. I have met drop dead gorgeous women of all shapes, sizes and creeds that werent pretty enough, strong enough, smart enough good enough or even worthy enough to be loved. They were always trying to live up to someone elses expectations of what they SHOULD be to be a viable woman. I am terribly saddened to see this facet of our culture. When I was 29 I came across the book Emotional IQ, it shattered my earth. I have great academic IQ but I realized then that I had poor E IQ but I was determined to acquire it. I had no female friends in my life at that point but I realized that my friends did, and I spent the next 7 years watching beautiful people love each other in so many many ways. Over the years women came into my life as friends and more and I began to heal my world in ways that no man could have helped me with. I owe a great debt of gratitude to the powerful healing ways of women, whether they be subtle, direct or even magical. I have a debt of gratitude to so many beautiful spirits both women and men. I cant change our culture but I can share my insights into what makes a woman beautiful. Sharing, caring, and loving are all ways to heal. But what I find to be the most magical about a woman is her eyes, smile and heart. Every woman has the capacity to heal the world with these three things. The eyes reflect the energies of the soul, the smile directs it to the world and the heart amplifies it to a crescendo that is a force to be reckoned with in this universe. Thank you to all of the beautiful women in my world, thank you for all that you do, thank you for all the others that you heal. There is a Taoist practice called the inner smile. The energies of a smile is directed to the eyes, then the eyes to the heart, from this great healing can result. A beautiful friend once said I had intrinsic self worth, I say that we all do, lets start teaching, healing, sharing with each other so that we may all have intrinsic self worth, And remember, the Eyes have it!
