I put off mending a small gap in the chicken wire for oh, a week. - TopicsExpress

I put off mending a small gap in the chicken wire for oh, a week. Then when I fed the goats today 25 chickens hit that weak spot all at once and go under the chicken wire to get goat feed and its instant chaos. So I wait a few hours, open up the fence even more...go on the chicken side and scatter cracked corn to lure the chickens back to the right side before I mend the fence. The chickens didnt fall for it but the goats did. So now I have the chickens in the goat yard and the goats in the chicken yard. I mend the fence and figure Ill just catch the goats after its mended then catch the chickens after dark when they go all sluggish zombie. Sugar the most skittish goat I have decides to go ballistic and threatens to run through the dividing chicken wire so I open the man gate and let her out into the wide open. What followed was a 40 minute reminder of why I dont jog. I can now remember which ankle has hardware in it and Tuesday better stick to herding chickens because she sucks at herding single goats. I ended up sitting on a bench at which point the damn goat, 2 acres at her disposal, grazes about 3 feet from me. I think thats the goat equivalent of flipping the bird. I ended up having to wait for Tim to get home so he could push her toward the open gate into the goat yard. She walked right in. Now I just have to catch a bunch of chickens. Moral of the story, never do simple maintenance. Wait for it to turn into a crisis so you can burn some extra calories.
