I put up the same cover photo that was popular before. But this time Im going to ask you some hard questions. Do you know some of Christs commandments and can you recite them telling others the chapter and verse where theyre found? Ill give you a few but you can find others for yourself and reflect on them: are you a faithful disciple in doing as the Lord told you? Do you share these commandments with others? And finally. are you teaching your children to obey the Lord? Lets start with the children: ...Suffer little children , and forbid them not to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. (Mat.19.14). Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (Mat.4.17) Rejoice, and be exceeding glad, for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. (Mat. 5.12) These are a few of the many direct commandments that Jesus told to his disciples found in Matthew. There are many more which can be learned and shared with others. Its worthwhile, since these are Christs instructions which give life to those who believe in Him and want to follow Him faithfully. Christs last words to his disciples in Matthew are indicative of the importance he placed on them understanding his will for them and faithfully carrying it out. GO ye therefore, and TEACH all the nations, BAPTIZING them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. 20) TEACHING them to observe all things whatsoever I have COMMANDED you and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Mat.28. 19-20) I showed the emphasis on his commandments here by putting them in capital letters to highlight that disciples are to teach others the Lords commandments. Christ emphasized teaching his commandments and yet today, on FB and in sermons, we often see or hear only about Christs words of comfort, such as He loves the little children, but not as frequently Christs commandments about teaching them to others. Therein lies a great fault of the church today. Knowing what the Lord commands us would help people stay on the straight and narrow path which leads to life and salvation. Lets walk by faith in him. Following his commandments you cant go wrong, And tell others as well.
