I questioned a Saudi Arabian high school senior about American misperceptions and I wanted to share the gist of his eloquent response... Saudis wear sweat pants and sweat shirts, theyre not at all how theyre described in Fox news, Saudis dont wake up and strap on a suicide vest, theyre not members of ISIS, theyre teenagers, teenagers like American teenagers, theyre not a different species, they play sports just like Americans, theyre just a different culture, his culture should not be judged by the actions of a minority just as he would never judge Americans by the actions of a select few, theyre not all rich spoiled kids or bedouins living in tents in the desert, Saudi society is not homogenous - they are rich and poor, urban and rural, conservative and liberal, they are many and varied... they are people, too.
