I quit the Republican party some years back and at times I did a write in vote for Mickey Mouse who I figured would do a better job than either candidates for a Florida senate seat. I was an early supporter of the tea party but fell out with it also. When the informal tea party groups began to gather it was an attempt to bring some fiscal sanity to the federal government. However, it was not long before the groups were being led by hard core religious right wingers and they lost my support. But in any event, I dont blame the tea party the budget fiasco any more than I blame Obama and his kool ade drinkers.
