I rarely go to Walmart, unless I am in Winfield KS or here. I have gone to Walmart more in recent weeks than previously in my entire lifetime. Yesterday Jake and I made a quick stop to get something to fix for supper. As we were leaving, a Hispanic woman in her late 40s approached me as I was getting into the truck. In broken English, she was looking for money, and she was carrying a bottle of Windex and some paper towels. She wanted to wash the windows for a donation. One could be skeptical, and wonder what she really wants the money for. But, I kept thinking how hopeless it must feel, that the only way you could think of to earn money was to wander a parking lot, asking to wash car windows.
