I rarely make comment on days like this but I want to throw my hat in the ring. Today is about remembering a tragedy where lives were lost as well as remembering the heroic efforts of police, fire fighters, and even brave people on those airplanes. Unfortunately, as a result of those events we have taken an entire religion and made it synonymous with terrorism only from the actions of an extreme minority. 12 years later and we are still vilifying Americans who are covered by the 1st Amendment just as much as anybody else is. I encourage my Christian friends to consider if the shoe was on the other foot. What if we were defined publicly and through all major media sources based solely on the actions of the Westboro Baptist Church? Let us not respond with hate to the painful memory of the events of 9/11 but let us respond with a determined and fierce love for our country and our fellow man. Remember the principles on which our nation was founded and the ideals for which the heroes we look up to in -our- history died for.
