I re-viewed an old PBS fundraising special which featured the 30th Anniversary Celebration Tribute to an old friend, fellow musician, performer, Bob Dylan, who Im quite sure is well known for his work. Since I personally and professionally covered it then I was happy to see so many old friends and professional connections but I think the way the fundraiser operates needs an update since Im one of those who helped personally/professionally create those breaks. Theyre too long, repetitive, stale after so long which is a real turn off. Doubters may view many others which feature me on the phones for all sorts of events. The highlight for me was seeing someone I love and miss very much, George Harrison, introduce and perform w/Bob the person I still prefer to sing his own work hands down. The low point was seeing the dearth of women on the stage. One of the groups features a blonde male singer who is the epitome of Ichabod Crane, which isnt an insult but a casting decision I wouldve made for a film. I know it wouldve been great the same way I knew decades ago that the first American miniseries about a famous James Clavell book shouldve have the British male leads I recommended not the American one. They were three men who played James Bond although I never met one of them when I did that famous network interview.
