I reach out in support of my fellow breast cancer sisters and congratulate them on their courage and faith in the face of a disease that has touched me, personally, taking the lives of both my biological and adoptive mothers. I chose reconstruction with silicone implants; some women choose saline implants and some women are happy without reconstruction. There is no right nor wrong decision on what to do after a mastectomy or double mastectomy....whatever a woman is comfortable with should be honored as her decision alone. A word of caution to my sisters with implants...please be careful of falls. Falling directing onto the implant/implants is not only excruciatingly painful, it can cause the rupture if the implant itself. Saline implant rupture is very easy to detect but silicone rupture requires a MRI to find signs of rupture. The pain and injury from the trauma also takes many weeks to subside. If any of my fellow breast cancer sisters suffers this kind of trauma, seek medical help as soon as possible.
