I read The Red Zone this weekend, 1995 #1 NYTimes Bestseller. Steven King said: One of the most horrifying things Ive ever read. Problem is-it is nonficton. It is the detailed history of the Ebola outbreaks up to 1995. Scary stuff. Very thoroughly investigated and descriptively written. We dodged a disaster in the early 90s when an outbreak in a monkey holding facility in Reston Va was handled as badly as the last few weeks with humans going in and out without proper protective gear or procedures. Fortunately, the strain did not jump from the monkeys to humans, although it was airborn and moved from room to room among the monkeys through the air, or we would have had a disaster. There are different strains of Ebola with different rates of infection, survival and other variables. We were so unprepared and it appears are still so.
