I read a couple of posts, and I TRIED to collect my thoughts - TopicsExpress

I read a couple of posts, and I TRIED to collect my thoughts before I offered a response: I can appreciate the Donald Sterling situation…not that I agree with his alleged comments & opinion, but I am curious about the outcome. Apparently, when bigotry seems invade the comfort zones of fame & entertainment, we (the public) then have a tendency then pay closer attention to how biased & bigoted attitudes can impact not only individual lives, but collective generations. In no way do I intend to discount the impact of Sterling’s alleged comments on the LA Clippers franchise, the NBA, or the sport/entertainment industry. I do want to call attention to the millions of Americans who suffer, silently, exploitation by bigoted bosses…and we ignore them EVERY DAY! Without the megaphones of media attention, what is the recourse for the minimum wage employee…? What happens when a staff assistant is injured by insults…? What do you do when the unemployed are denied options & opportunity…? What about the pregnant delivery girl who get denigrated…? The teacher denied tenure…? The law officers & trash collectors who are disrespected daily…? Or the ex-con & service man that is subjugated and subjected to the perils bigotry and/or racism…? Even corporate associates and executives manage daily “micro-aggressions” by their peers, supervisors, and yes even the owners who cultivate such hostile environments. God help the working class citizens (minority or not) who endure similar and even worse attitudes and the actions that follow such ignorance. For they say and/or do nothing because they fear being fired- and feel they can’t afford to lose yet another job. ‘Cause Lord knows they can’t even garner minimal support from their peers, especially when they can’t afford to join a workers’ union- even if they had one. Enough was more than enough over 50 years ago! I pray the LA Clippers and the industry can rise above all of this and address the situation with appropriate redress…but we also need to let our faith guide our feet when it’s time to stand up for what’s right in our homes, workplaces, and communities. Ive heard detractors say, “It’s just a game- they’re still making millions”. Well, I love the games…I think sports play on plenty parallels to life: but we gotta keep that passion to WIN- even when the odds are stacked tremendously high against us.
