I read a lot of comments on yesterdays D-Day commemorations, one comment that made me think was from Tommy Cockburn who said “just hope they think we were worth it” and I think this must be the million dollar question? We are so often bombarded with the ugly news, things look bad and it is difficult to see the spirit of goodness yet yesterday we witnessed the celebration and remembrance of D-Day and the overriding feeling was of respect, admiration and gratitude. This was across the political spectrum, it was also across the age gaps and generation gaps, it was inspiring to see the young and the very young showing sensitivity and respect. The young are the best thing since sliced bread, the media are overly quick to criminalise the young due to their dress, I am very proud of the young. I am sure those who gave would also be very proud and their sacrifice was worth it. Lest we forget.
