I read a story the other day about a man who was beaten nearly to death as he walked home one night from a bar. He, his wife, and his 2 year old son lived in the prestigious neighborhood of Capital Hill in DC. He now suffers from a traumatic brain injury and has to relearn how to live. His wife, Abby Maslin, has written about this traumatic event. One of the things that struck me most about what she wrote is that after her husband was attacked, people were ugly enough to blame them for living in DC or him for walking home at night. Why is it so much easier for people to blame victims than to try and work toward something positive? Do you all see the danger in this attitude like I do?
