I read articles like this (and plenty of them) and I Think … We took a Wrong turn at the Crossroads of Reason a Long time ago, and then stepped Hard on the accelerator mid-twentieth-century (or maybe thats just my born-time perception). And weve been accelerating ever since. Ive been saying for years (possibly lifetimes) that the only (a word I rarely use) True and Sustainable economy is a local Economy. But ya wanna know what really feeds my Truth-rooted-cynicism? The Greed ~ from stem to stern. Why? Because the average American doesnt give a rats ass about *anything* until it hits the beloved-wallet. All that power weve given Away to make-believe. Or paper. Or air. Or whatever. Im beginning to see greed for what it might just actually be ~ Fear ~ MANmade fear, no less. We might just have a chance to shake it off if only wed return to our senses. And capacity to Reason. It may take a little off-road hiking to get back to that place, the place of collective Reason, and I feel the hike, however challenging, is worthy.
