I read comments on this post and realized how dense we Indians are. How cool is it to hate Gandhi!! Lets not try to read one little thing about his philosophy. We have seen some great movies, we have heard some great people maligning him. So lets all hate him. Lets not give two shits about the fact that so many revolutionaries worshiped him. (Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Aung San Suu Kyi, Albert Einstein, John Lennon, James Lawson James Bevel to name just the tip of an iceberg) Time magazine named Gandhi the Man of the Year in 1930. Gandhi was also the runner-up to Albert Einstein as Person of the Century. But lets call all of this a western conspiracy and celebrate ignorance! I dont expect everyone to worship him, he had his faults and errors, and if you dont like him because of those, I can understand. It is a democracy, and you can dislike who ever you want. But at least try to read one or two lines about his principles. If you cant do that, at least accept that you dont know him enough to form an opinion. Be open to all the possibilities. If people from the distant corners of the world listened to him, there must be some substance in his principles. Stop following stupid and hateful propaganda. Bhagat Singh and Bose were heroes as well, but that doesnt undermine Gandhi. Why cant they both be heroes, who gave their life in getting us the precious freedom we boast about!!
