I read something today about how little things can bring such relief: finding a misplaced item, say. Or when the weather cooperates. It rained last night, and the garden looks so happy: the black earth, the green leaves, the damp blossoms. What I like best is that I wont have to water artificially. It seems like it will be another nice day for Printers Row here in Chicago. Yesterday I was at the food tent with Molly ONeill and Peggy Wolff. Afterward, I watched a few demonstrations there, all of us in the audiences practically transfixed as a pastry chef made macarons, as Ina Pinkney made her famous Blobs. Blobs. I love how unpretentious that name is. Care for a blob? Wouldnt the person need to answer sort of unintelligibly? Oh, xioruqmeityheheoay! Today at Printers Row. Ill be in conversation with Jennifer Day, the editor of Printers Row Journal, at 2pm in the Harold Washington Library auditorium. I love that library. It seems like dignity is conferred upon every person who enters it. Come if you can, and bring your questions and comments, so as to be part of the conversation.
